Living Below The Line recipe: Split Green Pea and Broccoli Soup

Green Split Pea and Broccoli Soup

Ingredients (amounts are - well, variable)
about 240g green split peas
half an onion
one carrot
about 50g frozen mixed peppers
a squidge of garlic
some vegetable stock
some purple sprouting broccoli from the garden
seasonings.
bit of oil

Method:
I made it in my thermomix so this is a sort of adaptation.

In a food processor, grind the split peas until they resemble a grainy powder. Set aside.
In the same bowl, zizz the onion, carrot and pepper until they are finely chopped, then add the broccoli and zizz a bit more.
Put the vegetables in a saucepan with as little oil as you can get away with and saute until they are softening.
Add the ground green split peas, some garlic puree, the stock, seasonings and enough water to make it about 2 litres in total. Bring to the boil and simmer, covered, until everything is cooked.
Pour it all back in the processor and zizz until very smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. It comes out very thick and should be diluted down with a bit of milk or water.
It was really delicious and Alex gladly finished off what had been allocated for lunch!
It's made eight jolly good portions.
